Spiral Sand and Water Separator

A spiral sand and water separator is an environmentally friendly device used in sewage treatment plants and industrial applications. Its primary function is to separate granular solids, such as sand, from liquids. A shaftless screw conveyor within a U-shaped trough lifts the settled sand upward, dewatering it and discharging it. The separated water then overflows the trough. This device is widely recognized for its compact design, high separation efficiency (up to 98%), low maintenance due to the lack of underwater bearings, and ease of operation.

Working Principle

1. Input: A mixture of sand and water is fed into the separator's U-shaped trough.

2. Settling: Heavier sand particles settle to the bottom of the trough.

3. Screw Conveyor: The shaftless screw conveyor begins rotating, pushing the settled sand along the inclined grooves.

4. Dewatering: As the sand is transported upward and separated from the liquid, it undergoes further dewatering.

5. Discharge: The dewatered sand is discharged into the hopper through the sand outlet.

6. Water Overflow: Purified water overflows from a separate outlet for subsequent treatment.
